Organisation-Oriented Super-Peer Networks for Digital Libraries
نویسندگان
چکیده
The transition from traditional paper libraries to digital libraries enables new strategies for the use and maintenance of artifact collections. We present an organisation-oriented super-peer network which represents the organisational structures of distributed digital libraries in a natural way and is able to integrate distributed resources as well as local devices. Organisational structures can be considered in searching and accessing distributed services and documents. The approach leads to a generalized support for the self-organisation of widely distributed, loosely coupled, and autonomous digital library systems which can be structured by arbitrary interand intra-organisational relationships.

T oday’s content providers are naturally distributed and produce large amounts of information every day, making peer-to-peer data management a promising approach offering scalability, adaptivity to dynamics and failure resilience. The management of large volumes of data in peer-to-peer networks has generated additional interest in methods for effective network organisation based on providers’ c...
متن کاملFederated Search of Text-Based Digital Libraries in Hierarchical Peer-to-Peer Networks
Peer-to-peer architectures are a potentially powerful model for developing large-scale networks of text-based digital libraries, but peer-to-peer networks have so far provided very limited support for text-based federated search of digital libraries using relevancebased ranking. This paper addresses the problems of resource representation, resource ranking and selection, and result merging for ...

This paper reviews the popular methodologies in integrating metadata records in distributed digital libraries environment. Each of these solutions does meet some of the requirements of distributed library services somehow, but still some issues need further study, such as limitation on the capacity of collections, retrieval of content-related records built in different metadata formats. In orde...
متن کاملP2P-DIET: One-Time and Continuous Queries in Super-Peer Networks
In peer-to-peer (P2P) systems a very large number of autonomous computing nodes (the peers) pool together their resources and rely on each other for data and services. P2P systems are application level virtual or overlay networks that have emerged as a natural way to share data and resources. The main application scenario considered in recent P2P data sharing systems is that of one-time queryin...
متن کاملA Hierarchical Super Peer Network for Distributed Artifacts
The transition from traditional paper libraries to digital libraries enables new strategies for the use and maintenance of artifact collections. Distributed software development can be regarded as a special case of digital library utilization, where developers or groups of developers are working on the same software geographically dispersed in time zones which might differ. We present a hierarc...
